Bible Truths for Kids | Christian Parenting Help

Raising your kids in a Christian household is fruitful but sometimes brings up challenging questions you don’t know how to answer; here you will find biblical truths that every child should know and how to explain them easily for their age as well as book recommendations for deeper dives into the truth.

Truth #1: God has no beginning and no end

Psalm 90: 2 – “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”This is a tricky concept for kids to understand sometimes; it’s a big thing to try to understand. The easiest way to explain this is that sometimes there isn’t always a perfect answer.

Be truthful about how some concepts are bigger than our brains allow. A perfect example is eternity and how God has no beginning or end. For more resources, we’ve referenced a book below:

Truth #2: God is always good, even when life feels bad

Nahum 1:7 – “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.”

Sometimes bad things happen, and it’s scary and confusing. What is often miscommunicated about God is that if he’s on your side, bad things won’t happen to you, but all Christians can attest that this isn’t true. When you’re a kid, this can be confusing, and the emotions tied to it can be the feeling of being misled. Explaining how God has no control over what people do and how the world reacts can put in perspective how he doesn’t want the bad things for you, but it’s not his fault either.

Truth #3: You are God’s favorite creation

Psalm 139: 13-14 – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

This is one of the easiest things to explain; we are all God’s creation in our own unique individual way, and God sees us as special and precious. We are God’s most prized creation, made in his image with nothing but love for us.

Quote: “This is an easy question to answer. You want to know God’s favorite thing in the entire universe? It’s YOU!”

Truth #4: God has good plans for your life

Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

God always has a bigger plan than what you can see. When you rely and trust God to be in control, the life he will give you will be rewarding and beautiful. This doesn’t mean there won’t be difficulties or hard days; it simply gives you the hope and faith to move forward each day because there is peace provided in the comfort of God. His plans might not seem clear right away, but he has a calling and a plan for all of his children, no matter where they are in their walk in faith with Him.

Truth #5: God helps you keep going (perseverance)

Isaiah 40:31 – “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

God is a rock, steady and stable for us to rely on. Whenever you feel hopeless or alone, God will be there to catch you when you fall, just reaching out through prayer and asking him for strength to get through can really impact how you move going forward. It might not solve all your problems right away, but at least you will know you’re never truly alone because God will always lift you up and support you and give you the strength to go on.

Trusting God’s plan is scary, and it’s a big idea to hear right off the bat. Sometimes, it brings up a lot of emotions and questions, but that’s totally normal. The most important thing to remember is to be patient and kind while explaining and understanding how your child feels in these moments. These are the important conversations to have when your child is young, so they can grow more and more in God’s love for them.
